Bike Ride Preparation
Don’t underestimate the importance of bicycle ride preparation. It’s important to check your bike before each ride to be sure that it’s safe. Spin the wheels and give the brakes a squeeze to be sure they stop the wheel. Air up your tires to the proper pressure listed on your tire’s sidewall. Check that all quick release levers are closed properly, that the chain is lubricated, and that all bolts are tight. Make sure your seatbag is loaded with everything you’ll need to change a flat. Finally, get out there and have a great ride!
It’s also a good idea to be familiar with your cycling route before starting your ride. If you’re riding in new territory, have a map or GPS that gives you directions to stay on course, and don’t forget to pack your cell phone. We carry a number of GPS enabled computers to help you stay on your route. If you’re riding alone, always let someone know where you’re headed and when to expect you back.
