Why is a Bike Fitting So Important?
It’s better to aim at a target before firing. So why rush into selecting a bike? Despite repeated attempts by folks in the bicycle industry, there is no way a size chart captures what makes your body perform differently from other cyclists.
Bicycles easily last a decade. As a result, any mistakes made during the purchase can haunt you for a long time. But that means taking time to get things right. However, there is no way to get a bike fitting properly other than in person. And we promise you will love the process and results.
We will not sell you a road bike without the information we gather during a bike fitting. Therefore, a bike fitting is critical. Yes, we charge $50 for the process. But we'll refund that fee when you purchase that perfectly fitted bike. So, your ultimate cost to ensure your bike fits you is FREE. In addition, we keep your bike fit card on file for future use.
We do not perform fittings for customers to outsource bikes from other stores or online sites. Unfortunately, there are no exceptions.
Bicycle frames come with different geometries because cyclists vary tremendously. For example, there is no such thing as a stock bike because there’s no such thing as a stock person. For instance, we’ve even completed a fitting on identical twins, and their coordinates were dissimilar. In addition, flexibility history and other physical elements yield different results even with identical genetic makeups.

From a technical perspective, the fit-first sales process eliminates the guesswork that so often confronts retailers when attempting to optimize a consumer’s preferred riding position on a particular bike.
For example, many consumers can often ride multiple sizes of a given bike model. The old sales model would force a retailer to have to make a semi-educated guess on frame size based on height and inseam, or an in-store demo on both sizes on a trainer.
These options are inaccurate and time-consuming respectively, and ultimately do not provide consumers with a clear point of view on which model or size is the best choice for them. By following a fit-first sales protocol, platform selection (race vs. endurance) and appropriate size are addressed before a consumer even looks at colors or price points.
This protocol ensures that a consumer’s final bike selection will give them the best possible cycling experience. ,
The fit-first sales process has become the best approach for retailers to utilize when selling bikes to their consumers- one that is beneficial for both sides and improves the overall shopping experience.
Whether a consumer is in the market for a $500 commuter bike, or a $10,000 superbike, selecting a bike based on proper sizing and riding position is the best way to ensure that consumers make the right decision about the bike they wish to purchase. Welcome to the fit-first sales process (used with permission from the editors of Bicycle Dealer magazine).
What If I Already Own a Bike?
Even if you own a bike, bike fitting is essential to optimize your comfort and efficiency. You will benefit from our extensive experience and insight even with an existing bike. We still use the same approach we do with new bike purchases.
We’ll also discuss your cycling goals and past injury history to ensure perfect bike fitting.
Suppose your goal is a comfortable position for ultra-endurance events, a sprint, Olympic, Half, or Full Ironman, aero bar placement needs to be correct for each discipline. But that may lead to component changes relating to your bike saddle, stem, handlebars, or another item where additional charges for parts and labor may be applied. The good news is you’ll walk away knowing you’ll ride at a comfort level you’ve never experienced.
The existing bike fitting lasts 90-120 minutes. So make sure you bring your bike, cycling shorts, and cycling shoes if you have them. We schedule bike fittings Tuesday through Friday. It’s a $250 investment on your part if you already own a bike, but one you’ll thank us for the next time you hit the road or trail.
Measurements obtained during your fitting will remain on file in our bike shop. However, we do not provide measurements for other stores or online purchases.
If you’re looking only for an aero bar fitting, your time investment is a mere 30 minutes for $40.00, plus the aero bar costs. Already own aero bars and want a bicycle fitting? That’s $60.00. So bring your bike, cycling shorts, jersey, and cycling shoes
Ready to Set Up Your Bike Fitting?
Dynamic Cleat and Pedal Fitting
Getting your bike pedals and shoes accurately set up may be the most important thing you do, as a proper bike fit extends up from your feet. Just as walking and standing affect your back and posture, cleat placement can considerably impact your efficiency and riding.
If you don’t have them, we’ll take the time to fit you for cycling shoes and align the cleats to the optimal position for your body geometry and pedaling.
Allow 30 minutes for $50.00. We schedule fittings Tuesdays-Fridays.
